Underlayment that holds up in extreme heat

Standard synthetic underlayments can soften, wrinkle, or bond to decking when temperatures climb. Arkint Armour is engineered for a temperature range of −40°F to 240°F — maintaining dimensional stability in the most demanding heat conditions.

When heat compromises the underlayment

In southern states, summer roof-deck temperatures can exceed 180°F — even under asphalt shingles. Under metal roofing, temperatures climb even higher. Spun-bonded polypropylene underlayments have lower heat tolerance and can soften, wrinkle, or adhere to the deck under sustained high temperatures.

Arkint Armour's coated woven polyolefin construction maintains its physical properties across a wide temperature range. The material neither softens nor becomes brittle, preserving the moisture barrier and allowing the roof to be serviced later without the underlayment bonding to the deck.

High-temperature applications

  • Metal roof systems — standing seam, corrugated, and stone-coated panels all transmit significant heat to the deck.
  • Southern-climate roofing — extended hot seasons push deck temperatures to levels that degrade lesser underlayments.
  • Dark-colored roofing — dark shingles and panels absorb more solar radiation and transfer more heat to the deck layer.
  • Summer staging — decking that sits exposed during peak summer months needs an underlayment that won't degrade in the heat.
